A Getaway to Bhandardara- Randha Waterfall

From the rush and bustle of Mumbai, a quick getaway away from the city was needed. For Mumbaikars, some close Konkan destinations are always preferred short-trip destinations. But we decided to go to Igatpuri. While holidaying in Igatpuri, an expeditious plan of an overnight stay in Bhandardara transpired. As camping is currently one of the most popular adventure sports. We decided to camp and enjoy the fireflies festival. Due to the presence of woods and wildlife, Bhandardara is a place that attracts a lot of visitors. There are several sites to see during Bhandardara camping, including a tranquil lake, hills, waterfalls, forts, dams, and valleys. These are excellent camping locations that offer a rejuvenating experience. We had a lot of confusion about camping bookings because it was very windy so many campsites weren't taking bookings. After a while, we finally booked a lake-side camp.

So the next afternoon, we grabbed a cab from Igatpuri and travelled straight to Bhandardara. The road connecting Igatpuri and Bandardara is a winding mountain road that passes through various small communities. We witnessed the gorgeous Sahyadri range of mountains covered in natural green carpets, cows grazing on open green ground, little farms, beautiful flower plants, and a cloudy sky on this road. After 2 and a half hours of driving, we got to Bhandardara Dam, and from there we went to our destination in 20 minutes. The lake that we camped at is known as Bhandardara Lake. It is a beautiful lake with a blue sky and a green water lake. The theme was an entirely windy atmosphere and resonating water and from behind the mighty hill is visible, like it’s protecting the entire natural elements. It’s one of the most unique presentations of natural justice I’ve ever seen. One side of the lake was covered with rocks and also had rock formed well. The scenery was very picturesque and peaceful. At night, we were entertained by fireflies. Our surrounding was covered by these little dim lights.

About Bhandardara:

Bandardara is the best monsoon destination. It is located by the old Pravara River, which generates a succession of beautifully created and almost natural waterfalls, making this sight most appealing and amazing. At times, the entire environment appears to indicate one of the most sleepy and natural presentations of ideas, where human beings tend to think without interruption. The name Bhandardara is derived from the Bhandardara lakes, the largest expansion of the longest drive, and from the presence of water about the thunderous Randha waterfalls that produce the most thunderous natural beauty that can be described with wonderful thoughts and actions in relation to the presence. Here one could unwind their mind and body by the side of nature's cradle, and watching the river and the quantity of waterfalls makes anybody’s mental process one of the most fascinating presentations of life ever. Surprisingly, Bhandardara can also provide basic trekking amenities, and those who love to hike should go deeper to explore their own abilities in such a gorgeous setting. Mount Kalsubai, Maharashtra’s highest peak (5,400 ft or 1,600m), is also located in Bhandardara.

Randha Waterfall

After checking out from the tents, we headed toward Randha Waterfall. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Bhandardara. Randha Waterfall is 6.8 km from Shendi Village. It is a stunning waterfall found on the Rajur-Bhandardara route in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district. As we went at the beginning of the monsoon the water flow was low, we couldn’t able to enjoy the actual waterfall but it was worth watching and we were able to see a different side of Randha Waterfall. We witnessed a deep drop, some of which was approximately 200 feet, due to the lack of water. The riverbank is built entirely of large rocks. Because we are on top, we spotted a height comparable to the enormous rock mountain. The riverbank was split into two halves. One goes straight whereas the other turns to the left. Furthermore, they design side fences that seem like a bridge made out of wooden branches.

Randha Waterfall Bridge

Randha Waterfall at Bhandardara, Maharashtra, proved to be unlike any other waterfall in the state. It is also well-known for being the third-largest waterfall in Maharashtra. It is the primary source of hydroelectricity in the Bhandardara region. There is an altar on the river's banks, and a lookout right above the falls offers a spectacular view of the cascades. The sheer walls of the gorge are home to bee colonies, and massive hanging hives may be seen beneath the stone ledges. The bridges in this area make Randha Fall accessible to individuals of every age, gender, and fitness ability. Various observation views of the Randha Falls are available from these bridges. You can walk comfortably on these lengthy bridges and enjoy the spectacular views of the Randha Falls from an appropriate distance. Upon our sightseeing we ended our journey by leaving from Ghoti Ghat to Kasara Railway Station, while driving at the Ghoti Ghat we witnessed the mesmerizing glow of the fireflies.
